Administrative Law

Rules, regulations and orders issued by government agencies at all levels have a significant impact on the operation of businesses, political committees, nonprofits and others in the United States. The scope of agency authority has continued to expand in recent years, presenting significant obstacles and challenges for those trying to operate successfully in regulated industries. Our lawyers are well versed with administrative law, including the federal Administrative Procedure Act (“APA”) and its state equivalents. We advise clients at all stages of the administrative process, including providing advice on compliance with agency rules and advisory opinions and defending clients before agencies and administrative law judges in contested cases. We litigate and handle appeals of cases challenging administrative agency actions that exceed the scope of the agency’s statutory or constitutional authority, and have on multiple occasions successfully pushed back against bureaucratic overreach against our clients. Our lawyers have also worked with clients and testified before legislative committees to address agency rulemaking authority. If you have an administrative law issue, we can help.
