BIOGRAPHY

Wes Jones represents businesses and individuals in civil litigation and serves as outside counsel to companies navigating contracts, disputes, regulatory issues, and day-to-day legal needs. His practice also includes political law, real estate, and estate planning.

Civil Litigation

Wes represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts in business and civil disputes involving contracts, fraud, construction, real estate, professional liability, and other complex matters. He works with businesses, individuals, insurers, nonprofits, and professionals through all stages of litigation, from early case assessment and discovery through motion practice, settlement, and trial preparation.

Wes also brings an appellate perspective to his litigation practice from his service as Judicial Clerk to Chief Judge Chris Dillon of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, where he worked on more than forty appellate opinions, primarily involving civil and constitutional law.

Business Law

Wes serves as outside and fractional general counsel to small and mid-sized businesses, helping clients address contracts, governance, regulatory issues, business disputes, and other legal needs as they arise. He focuses on practical advice that accounts for both legal risk and the client’s broader business objectives.

He also advises contractors and construction companies on contracts, payment disputes, business relationships, risk management, and litigation. Wes serves as fractional general counsel to Walmart’s chief renovation and construction provider. He graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and previously served as a Legal Institute Summer Fellow with the North Carolina Chamber.

Political Law

Wes advises corporations, political committees, nonprofits, advocacy groups, trade associations, elected officials, candidates, political parties, lobbyists, and government entities on laws and regulations governing political activity.

He previously served as Oversight Counsel to the North Carolina Speaker of the House and Deputy Counsel to the North Carolina Republican Party. Wes currently serves as a member of the North Carolina Rules Review Commission and as North Carolina Chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

Wills, Trusts & Estates

Wes helps individuals and families plan for the future through wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and related estate-planning documents. He works with clients to build practical plans that provide for spouses and children, name guardians for minor children, address incapacity, and make the transfer of assets as clear and efficient as possible.

He also assists clients with trust administration and other estate-related matters, including interpreting trust documents, advising trustees and beneficiaries, addressing administration issues, and helping resolve disputes that may arise after an estate plan is in place.
